PHARMACY

 

PGIMER Pharmacy is entrusted with the responsibility to procure, store, and distribute drugs, dressings and related material to various clinical departments and sections of PGIMER. It runs round the clock to ensure availability of drugs and dressings. It is also responsible for quality assurance so that the drugs and dressings procured are compliant to various norms and regulations. It also prepares some preparations like ointments, solutions, paints, and powders etc. which are not readily available in the open market. Pharmacy plays an important role in promoting use of generic drugs in the institute as per the directives of Govt. of India and Indian Medical Council.

 

Main pharmacy of institute is located on the ground floor in Nehru Hospital near MS office. Additionally there are pharmacies in Advanced Pediatric Center, Advanced Cardiac center and OPD building.

Inspection committee inspects incoming material as per supply orders in respect of:

  • Quantity
  • Quality as per specifications
  • Shelf Life (It should not have passed more than 1/6th of total shelf life)
  • To ensure maintenance of Cold chain during transportation of thermolabile Drugs.

Efforts are made to ensure the availability of these drugs in the PGI Pharmacy depending upon their consumption pattern.
