Helicobacter-pylori infection: Helicobacter pylori infection is one of the most common causes of peptic ulcer disease (PUD). It is the most common ulcer of gastrointestinal tract and is extremely painful. However, only small fraction of H-pylori positive patients develops PUD but rest of patients develop duodenal or gastric ulcers. The bacterium is detected non-invasively in the department of Biophysics by radioactive test called 14C Urea breath test (UBT). Timely detection of the above bacterial helps in eradication of H pylori which markedly reduces ulcer recurrence |
