A BRIEF RESUME OF FACULTY AND MEDICAL PHYSICISTS | Prof. S. C. Sharma, MD, Head of the Department. A graduate from IGMC, Shimla and MD Radiotherapy from PGIMER Chandigarh, he joined as Lecturer at PGIMER in 1979 and rose to the position of Professor in 1999. He is also the Head of The Department since 1994. A recipient of Common Wealth Scholarship, he was trained in UK. His main areas of interest are in Brachytherapy of all sites, Cancer Breast and Hematological Malignancies. He is a member of six National Associations and has published more than 150 papers in various international and national journals. He has served as an executive member, vice-president and assistant editor of AROI. He was Chairman of ICRO between 1998 and 2002 and President of AROI from 2002 – 2004. | | Prof. F. D. Patel, Professor. A graduate from Mumbai university and MD Radiotherapy from PGI, Chandigarh in 1977. After a year in USA she joined as faculty member at PGI in 1981 and promoted as Professor in 1999. Her main areas of interest are Gynecological Malignancies and Palliative care. She has been instrumental in starting the Home Care Service and Chandigarh Hospice for cancer patients. She is a member of six National Associations and has published more than 150 papers in various international and national journals. | | Dr. Sushmita Ghoshal, Assistant Professor MBBS (Calcutta), MD from PGIMER, Chandigarh (1989), Dip NB (1992). Visiting Fellow of Leeds University in 1993. She joined as Asst. Prof in May 1994. Her main interest is in Head and Neck malignancies and Palliative Care. She is a member of 5 national associations and International Academy of Oral Oncology. She has 42 publications in national and international journals. She has served as joint secretary of the AROI and is an executive member of the IAPC. | | Dr. Rakesh Kapoor, Assistant Professor. MBBS from GMC, Jammu and MD from PGIMER, Chandigarh in 1997. He has also done Diploma in Hospital Administration and Health Management (AHA) New Delhi, 1992-93. He Joined as Assistant Professor at PGIMER, Chandigarh in 2000. He has received three Best Paper Awards. He has Published more than 20 papers in International and National Journals. He is a Member of four National Associations including AROI, IAPC and ISSLC. He is consultant Editor of Journal of JK Science. His special interest is in Brachytherapy in Carcinoma Oesophagus, Bile Duct, Anal Canal and Lung. | | Dr. Vinay Kumar, Assistant Professor, a Graduate and Post Graduate in Radiotherapy from SN Medical College, Agra. He has worked as senior Resident in SGPGI, Lucknow and JIPMER, Pondicherry. He has also worked as consultant at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute, Delhi and Senior Consultant and Head, Radiotherapy at SSG Cancer Hospital, Miraj, and Maharastra and at Lucknow Cancer Institute, Lucknow. He joined as Assistant Professor at PGIMER in 2002. He has published four papers in National and one in International Journals. His interests are in Brain Tumors, Head & Neck and Genitiurinary Malignancies and Brachytherapy. His special area of interest is in recent technology in Radiotherapy planning and treatment including IMRT. | | Dr. T. S. Kehwar, Ph.D., D. Sc., DABR (USA), Assistant Professor (Medical Physics). He joined the department in 1997. He has been awarded UICC and IMRT Fellowships from USA. He has published more than 40 full length papers in National and International Journals and delivered more than 35 lectures in national and international meets. He is member of six associations including ASTRO, AAPM and UICC. His main area of interest is Radiation Oncology Physics, HDR Brachytherapy, IMRT, Dosimetry and Radiobiology. | | Mr. Dev Raj Goyal, M.Sc., Dip. R. D., Senior Physicist. He joined the department in 1971. He has published more than 40 scientific papers. He is a member of five national and international associations. His main area of interest and expertise is Brachytherapy and Treatment Planning System of all kind. | | | | Mr. Anoop Bharatdwaj, Medical Physicist.
