The Advanced Eye Centre was inaugurated on 18^th March 2006 by the then Honourable Vice President of India, Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat ji in the august presence of the Union Health Ministor and President of the PGIMER, Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss.

OPHTHALMOLOGY

The department operates OPD on all days of the week except Sundays. It has Nine (9) Special Clinics, which run on particular days. Patients are redirected from EYE OPD to Special Clinic OPD. The department has a main Operation Theater (OT) on the 4th floor of the Advanced Eye Centre and an emergency OT on the ground floor. All types of Major and Minor Ophthalmic Operations are performed in the department.

The department has its own laboratories to conduct a number of Ophthalmic Tests and Procedures. The department has state-of-the-art machines like Femtosecond laser machine, OCT angiography, Microscopes with built-in OCT and Optiwave Refractive Analysis (ORA), HD Nasal Endovision system, RetCam for Pediatric fundus imaging etc.

The department actively participates in the RESEARCH ACTIVITIES and has published landmark papers in various fields of Ophthalmology in the journals of international repute.
